My boat is a 62 model. It is 16'7" with a light blue interior. There is a mohogany console. There are two bench seats, one for the captain that spans the beam of the boat behind the console, the other is attached to the console. It has the rear side rails.

Where can I find information on what my boat looked like When it was new?

I know that it did have the Homelite 4 cycle engine -- the tachometer is still installed, though inoperative.

The hull is in great shape. I bought this boat from a guy who was throwing it away. I am planning to paint it this winter and to redo the wood. Is there anything that I can do to freshen the interior Gel coat?

I have installed a new (to me) motor, a '92 60 HP Evenrude and a new Mills sun top.

Email customer service at whaler.com with your serial number. You should be able to find the serial number on the back of the transom. They will also be able to confirm the year and what dealer the boat was originally delivered to. Since yours has bench seats, I'm guessing that it is a currituck, but, email whaler to be sure.

For the faded interior, use a good buffing compound and a professional grade buffer. 3M makes a cleaner wax which is excellent for this purpose. Just remember to keep moving around with the buffer as it will burn through the gel coat if you stay on one spot too long.

Hope this helps,

Peter Ferguson

For that year, your serial number is probably stenciled, in white, on the floor of the bow locker.
