I am lookiing at purchasing a 1981 22' Revenge with an I/O. The I/O is a 3.8 liter 6 cyc. with an OMC stern drive. The owner told me that this boat is trimmed by tilting the engine and not the stern drive. Does anyone have iinformation regarding this type of Whaler configuration and would recommend purchasing one? Thanks for any help you can give. David

I have never been out in one of these boats but I can tell you about the drive system.
They work well but there are things to consider:
1. The boot on the drive and transom need to be replaced every few years.
2. In our area, muskrats like to eat the transom boots, a few sink every year in the marinas.
3. Transoms tend to rot internally around the boot.
4. Check the tilt mechanism brackets on the engine and hull.
