I have called the seller and gotten the serial number and it ends in 94. So I plan on calling Whaler and inquiring more about it. Maybe we stumbled on a rare find...what do you think?

Chris post what Whaler CS tells you -- that should clear up all your questions --- they can tell you when it was made, who it was shipped to (dealer) and what options if any it left the factory with ---

Sounds like you definitely have a specially ordered boat. It could have begun life as yacht tender, ordered by the yacht design team to be carried on board. I recently saw a brand new 22 Guardian, in all white (sorry Jack), on board a 10 million (or so) yacht. It's also possible that it was a replacement hull, done under sombody's ten year warrantee. Somewhere, buried on another thread from the earlier days of this Forum, is a post by me regarding this issue. The earliest Outrage 18's, 1983 & 1984's had a lot of hull delamination problems (very wavy sides), and I believe over 100 were replaced under the warrantees. Somebody might have just ducked in under the wire. There were actually people out there (in FL at least) looking specifically for a defective 83 or 84 model to buy cheap, then turning it in for a new hull under the warrantee! I'm sure Whaler knew they were being "had", but did honor the requests. I saw a dealer re-rigging one of these in 1991. Only the hull was provided, and all the older seating and console components were re-installed into the new hull.
The guy who pulled this off was very proud of himself, and couldn't believe Whaler would actually do it for him.

Larry, a Gardian in White. I think you did say you can pay more money for an optional color, at least you can still option a different color out. Regards-Jack Graner.

I think one can only get a special color gel-coat from Commercial Products Division.
THEIR standard color is the "haze gray". So a white (Whaler's only Recreation Products Division color) Guardian would have been extra cost. Mold cleaning and preparation for another color is the reason.
