I am considering buying a used 1999 Dauntless 18' with a Mercury Optimax 135hp. Any information from current owners will be greatly appreciated.

Medhat:

It might help to give a few more details as to what type of info you are looking for. Just pricing? Value/price? Ride? Features? What area are you planning to use? Fishing only/Boating? Etc.

Sure whith a bit more details you will get the info you are looking for.

Regards,

Tsuriki

The 18 Dauntless was the Boat of the Year in either 97 or 98, the year it was introduced. When I sold Whalers here in Minnesota, it was our most popular seller. With the 135 opti, it had plenty of power to plane with a full gas tank and a reasonable load. It has the same engine block as the 150 opti, and for the approximately $2000 price difference, the 135 is a great value. It's a beamy boat for an 18, which gives it alot of elbow room. It isn't cheap, but there's nothing that compares with it in categories of fit and finish, rugged construction, and class. My opinion, an extemely well thought-out boat with few drawbacks. Built like a foam filled Mack truck. If you can get it at a reasonable price, go for it. Good luck!

Medhat,
Will you be trailering it? See posts in the Neo-Classic section under Dauntless center console heading. It is a heavy boat. Lots of usable space. What kind of $$'are they asking?

Dauntlass--

Welcome to the forum ---

Sounds like your very happy with the 18 --- by the way where do you generally cruise/use her?

If you would like to start a new thread under Neo Classics (I know sort of a meaningless title for a Forum topic) might be best, and relate more about your experiences --- a lot of folks would like to hear about them.

Tom
