Looking for a source or used centre console for my 17 foot whaler. Can anyone give me the dimensions for one?

Fin-Addict Marine will build one from King Starboard. Their number is 919-989-6813.

Lastly, you could prabably go directly to whaler for a new one and then reconfigure the boat. With all attachments, including helm windshield, railing, etc., they are about $2K or just above.

I also have the original drawings for the console from Boston Whaler. They sent them to me before they moved to Florida. Includes about 20 pages of specs for each component of the console - upper segment/lower unit/dash/location of cut outs/ materials lists / etc.

Fax will probably not do the details much justice, but could send you copies.

Are you looking for wood? Or fiberglass. There are a few aftermarket suppliers for replacements (not stock of course). One is a cheap (and I mean cheap) plastic console from a company that goes by the name of "TODD". The other is much better and the price goes up too. They are fiberglass. They make all sorts of aftermarket stuff for Whalers and the such. Including leaning posts. I will find the name and ph. # and post it for you. Stevo in El Cerrito.

Stevo, I too am looking for a quality FG Center Console to replace my side console. Did you track down that phone number? Thanks for the help!

Check again with your Whaler dealer. I was told by mine that you can purchase a plain Montauk console for about $600-700. This is bare. No accessories. No doors! You have to cut your own. A side console for a 15' would be about $300 and a 17' Guardian console would run close to $1k. Add about $100 for shipping. The commercial consoles couldn't be shipped for another few months.

My 2000 accessory price sheet lists the Montauk console as part #500-05034 and from the dealer cost the list price would be around $2,000.00. This is a complete console with windshield, rail & steering.

Dick is spot on. I looked into getting such an OEM console this past summer. Originally, I thought it was outrageous. However, after rebuilding mine I can tell you that things add up.

A new steering system is $150. Windshield is easily the same if not more. Railing are over $200...

Starts to look fairly decent.
