I recently bought a boat from an ad in the paper.. The title shows it to be 17' but could only find 16 footers listed here in these pages.. it is definatly an eastport with the rear bench.. any ideas??

I have seen Whalers listed as both 16's and 17's. Whaler changed the number but the hull stayed pretty much the same. I had a Nauset back in 71' and added the read seat to make it an Eastport. At present I am in the process of doing it again with a pre 72' 16 footer.

The `16 was until 1975/76 and the `17 was from 77` until present. Former weighing 500lbs, the latter something like 850-950lbs. Regards-Jack Graner. P.S. the latter changed to the "SMIRK" front end.

You know how boys are. The year or so after BW made Shadowcatcher, an Outrage 18, they started rounding up to 19. So, the previous owner peeled the 18' sticker from the hull and upgraded to a 19' sticker... longer is better!

And, he lied about how long it was. Most
women I know would condescendingly sneer:
"typical male".
