What is a good open ocean designed hull for a boston whaler with an cuddy-overnight cabin? (22-30 ft) I am researching boats for weekend-fish-surf-dive trips to the channel islands, CA. Thanks!

hey tahiti, now your talking.Ive spent lots of time at the islands and the cant beat a whaler.the one thing you got to consider-do you want to use the hoist at gaviota?these boats get real heavy to tow and launch in the bigger sizes.i go with a 20 outrage and i have it rigged with a forward shelter for overnights-not great for a ladyfriend in winter but fine for some surf dogs.theres tons of great surf where you are and offshore baja as well.hope youre happy with your choice.

Mikey, thanks for the info. The hoist at Gaviota is constantly blown up by the friendly ranch locals so, it is a long haul from Santa Barbra launch ramp to Cojo! What size engine do you have on your 20 Outrage? I am looking forward to some surfing and freediving! You still head out to CI frequently?
