Hellow to all who own Whalers I've been looking for a long time and I think I found one.I'll give the readers digest version, boat, motor and trailer 1987 guy wants 7000 blue book package 5400.Only 200 hrs. on motor, boat has never seen salt, orig. gel on bottom,no rust etc. What else should I look for or should I talk the guy down a bit or is the boat worth more? I figure I'd start with a comp. test to motor. Please help...........thanks.

I would also ask for a sea trial to run the motor under load. $7k for that package in '87 vintage sounds about right. What horsepower is the outboard?

What kind of motor and what hp would help in determining a fair price. check the compression on all cylanders. If they are all around the same you should have a tight motor there.good luck!

You better hurry up and buy it, or the WhalerGuy might beat you to it. No saltwater and all...
Seems like a great deal...

For Whalers, 1987 was a very good year.

The Yamaha 90 of that same vintage is a good motor, a nice three cylinder 2-stroke.

I think the price is right. Montauks go for $9,000 or more all the time.

A new Montauk with that setup would be 23 large. You might want to jump on it before someone else does. Happy Whalin'
