I'm restoring a 1970 Katama 16-7. I'm looking for anyone who's interested in the Katama fiberglass console it came with, minus the steering wheel. Call if you're interested (504) 483-2107.

What shape is that console in? Has it been well kept so that it is still shiny or is it somewhat oxidized? Is if full of cracks?

Ron,

It's in pretty good shape. Not really shiney, but a coat of the right paint will bring it back. Structurally sound. I'm going to post some pictures as soon as I can, so look for them by the middle of next week.

Jim, I am thinking of removing the side console on my 73 Katama and replacing it with a center console. Is that also your intent? If so, what console are you using?
Ken.

Ken,

I'm actually building a center console myself and having it fiberglassed. My father did the same thing with his ('70 Montauk), and it turned out great. We'll post some pictures soon.

Jim, that would be great - I was tempted to do the same thing, but am not that confident I can get the FG done right. Ken.

jhuiv - Thanks but no thanks. I have that exact same console and mine is still in about 90% mint condition. If by chance yours was the same or better, I would have considered buying it for future use. But, right now, I have no strong incentive to replace mine. I would be very interested to see pictures of the change when you are done. Those 2/3 consoles are a real pain because you can only walk around the one side of them.

Thanks,
ron
