Guys, I'm looking for a small tach - preferably a 2" for my kicker. I've scoured the earth (literally) to find a monster that is both small and compatible with my 2 cylinder 4 stroke kicker.

I'm also in the process of installing a Raytheon SL 72 radar to my boat, and am curious to know if anyone has had any problems communicating between Raytheon and Garmin (230 GPS). I'd rather replace the GPS while I'm running the Radar wires if it's going to give me headaches.

Any advice pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx in advance

Louie

Louie: Regarding the tach, have you looked at the 2" jet ski instruments? I know Teleflex makes a tach that size, but not sure if it works on a 4 stroke outboard.

Know nothing about radar, buy I think you can buy combo radar/GPS units now.

Teleflex has 3 2" tachometers.
58475P 4 pole tach
58476P 6 pole tach
58477P 12 pole tach
Just have to figure which one will work with your motor.
Your dealer or maybe your engine manual can help.

Louie, you might also consider Mercury's Quicksilver Service Monitor. It's a small rectangular LCD digital tach that's inductive powered and has a resettable hourmeter. The p/n for your engine is 79-859000A3. Don

Great, thank you all!!

Larry, I've had too many headaches with combo units in the past. I've already bought the radar, and will probably upgrade my sounder while I've got everything apart. I like the Garmin GPS, itís small and works well. They (Raytheon and Garmin) tell me I SHOULDNíT have communication problems, but want to confirm before I run the wires through the channel. I think Iíll put a posting on wrecked boats too.

Thanks again for your prompt replies.

Louie
