Do any of the legions of montauk owners out there have any experience with larger 4 stroke kickers, speciifically the yam 15 hp 4 stroke? We have an older johnson 15 on ours, but we are thinking of putting a new yam 15 on (we do lots of salmon fishing on lake michigan, sometimes farther out than the paternal element would like, and if the yam 90 ever goes it would be nice to get back in timely fashion.) SO - thoughts -- too, heavy, too big, just right?? Great engine, could split gas supply from the Pate rather than have the aux. tank, and SO smooth -- but would the extra weight stress the transom too much?? lhg, I appologize, you mentioned this was covered ad nauseum -- do you remember when, as i have been away from the board for a while and can't seem to find the posts...sorry. Thanks so much to everyone for their comments! WD

I think a 15 is too much for a Montauk, and better suited to a 22 Outrage (see Cetacea page 12) I'd stay between 6 minimum & 10 max. There's a picture of a 16 with a 4 stroke 10 in the Rendezvous section, page 3.
If it were me, I'd use a 6 or 8HP. Remember, 20" shaft length only.
