It was on again last night. The Bruce Willis movie that takes place on the Pittsburg waterfront. He and his partner are running around in a huge 80s Outrage. I think I read in the past it was a 27. This boat is incredible. There is a scene where Sarah Jessica Parker (Willis' cop partner) takes off in the boat in a turn by herself; she looks like she is 2 feet tall in that monster. There is an 18 in a few scenes as well. It was hard following the plot. All I wanted was more scenes of the real stars.

I remember when she came on Letterman to promote this movie. He asked her how was the experience and she said " I got to drive a Boston Whaler" Letterman said "OH Yea?" Cool.
Also, check out "Jaws", many Whalers in the boat shots!

What is the name of the Bruce Willis movie...have never seen it. Oops, I meant to say what is the name of the Whaler movie with Bruce Willis in it!?

"Striking Distance" -- I think. We have a copy of it: my wife is from Pittsburgh and she collects any and all movies that were shot there. Its a real stinker -- the only redeeming feature is that there are Whalers in it. And SJP. One of the reasons that SJP looks so small in the Whaler is that she is REALLY tiny.

Thanks for the movie name, will check it out. By the way, the redeeming quality for me would be BW, not SJP, not that I am a big BW (clarification: Bruce Willis not Boston Whaler) fan, but I am a whalergal, not guy. Thanks again! P.S. Hey, no offense, but what's up with assuming I am a guy anyway?

Just because Jurisproodenz is recommending a movie because SJP is in it doesn't mean Jurisproodenz thinks you're a guy - maybe her acting performance, along with the Boston Whalers, are the highlights. I think you're the one assuming facts not in evidence. :-)

Right, Jur? :-)

No offense but I read the post 3 times thinking I missed something and see no assumptions or references to you being a guy. He just says that she is so small cause the boat is big, etc. Got Me!

A very nice 17' Whaler in action caught my attention tonight while I was channel surfing. Looked like a Montauk with a side console and full width bench seat. Nothing exactly like it on Boston Whaler's web site at present. Maybe a 17' Standard with a full set of rails? Movie was "Gold Diggers"
which appeared to be an ABC made-for-tv movie. Only redeeming feature was the Whaler.

For you older Whaler folks, the series "Flipper" was filmed in Fla and used a lot of the classic small Whalers.

The real whaler movie was "BIG Fish Small Boat" This is a great fishing story which the star was an old 17' montauk. Enjoy! Ps. my blockbuster did have it.

To Dragonfly803:

Addressing your post - I am not offended, I merely hope that you are not.

The first two posts in this thread related to the same movie about which you posted, and referred to SJP in their commentary.

The comment as to SJP being tiny was in response to the first post stating that "she looks like she is 2 feet tall in that monster." Yours is the fourth post and asks what the name of the Bruce Willis movie was. I responded.

As to SJP being a redeeming feature, that was purely a subjective comment on my part, as with the overall quality of the movie: a stinker. Such portion of my post that was subjective in nature was in no way intended for or directed to anyone or any comment submitted up until that point. I find it hard to see how it could have been taken to be so. Implicitly, there can have been no assumption as to gender of an individual contributor.

However, if you feel that my response was or is in any way offensive, sexist (what's up with assuming I am a guy anyway[?]) or serving to create a hostile posting environment, then please accept my sincere apologies on a personal level. I am an "equal opportunity" Whaler fan, Title VII notwithstanding.
