Ok I have found a 17 1969 Whaler that the seller says is a Montauk. I know Montauks came out in the early 70s. I have not seen the boat yet, because of the distance, but the seller says that it has a molded console. From everything I have found on this site, I cannot find a whaler with a molded console from that year. All are wood. I am trying to find out what it would looks like and if this console is original. The owner does not know if it is original or not. Are there any whaler gurus out there that can help me. BTW love this site. Future owner, one day. Archie

Ask for the serial number! Best easy way to check.

Once I get the serial number, how do I find info about it? Thanks for the help.

Check here first:

http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/16-17/

if not there you can email Boston Whaler customer service for the specifics on this boat.

How do you match up the hull number to the one's on the 16/17 page. The number is 1NZ022487034. I cannot figure it out. Those numbers there are too short. Thanks, Archie

First Molded Console offered in the Cohassett/Montauk was in 1973. Regards-Jack Graner.

I have a 1969 Minot. You can see pictures of it here in the Cetecea section. It has the fiberglass molded console and it was shipped with that console from the factory in 1969. If my memory serves me correctly, the Katama which is a fancier version of the Minot was also shipped with that console. The Minot also came with a molded seat instead of the wood that we are so accustomed to seeing.

See the "Minot" on page 33 of Cetecea. Is that the same console as yours?

By the way, if you call Boston Whaler and give them your hull id number, they will give you the complete history on your hull. Those people at Whaler are very helpful and it doesn't cost a cent...

Thanks you for the help. I have not seen the boat yet, it is 4 hours away. The owner said that the console is 30 wide and the seat behind it is 30 wide also. I did not ask if it was like yours. I will probably go see it this weekend. Thanks ARchie
