I just aquired a 1980 Sport 13. Does anyone know if new wiring can be pulled through the hull for the bow running light. I am about to do a complete restore on this boat. Can anyone offer suggestions on do's and don'ts that I should know about. I have wanted a Whaler for many years and finally got one, so I wan't to do it right.

The wiring does not go through the hull but rather under the rub rail insert, penetrating the hull only between the rub rail and the bow light location and the terminal block in the stern. It's a terribly simple matter to run new wires by just pulling the rub rail insert out, running the wire and putting the insert back in. On the old boats with the glue on white rub rail the wiring was run through the foam with one spare wire for future use. On these boats the only satisfactory way to replace the wiring is to retrofit the newer style rub rail and run the wires as on the newer boats.

Thanks for the info. I am really looking forward to this project and will be asking more questions in the future.
