I have a 13 ft super sport with a 40 Yamaha but no tilt or trim. I was wondering if anyone has tried the unit sold by Cabelas for approx 290.00. All i want is to be able to run in shallow water and am not concerned with triming for speed. thanks

i think the best way you can run more shallow is to install the cmc 5" vertical extension plate [14 lbs], west marine sell it $129, this plate only have 1/2" setback and light weight, so your boat won't have a stern down problem, i just installed mine with cmc 2 piece manual jackplate with 4" setback, cost $139 [20 lbs], but the stern down about 2", after i to move the tank and battery under the seat, and the 70 qt. cooler with 1/2 full ice to the front, she look lots better, look cool when she on the trailer with the motor tilt up high, the reason i pick 2 piece jackplate with setback, because with it not work out good, i can use it for my montauk,
