Anybody know where to find this stuff. I'm not a whaler snob, so if there's an aftermarket RED rub rail that fits and that's reasonably priced that would be great.

I own a 1973 outrage which also has a red rub rail. While restoring the boat last year, I agonized over replacing the factory rub rail with an after market red rub rail (whaler no longer makes red ones). What I finally decided to do was restore the original one which turned out to be very easy. I used 80 grit sand paper to scuff it up and remove debris and then painted it with red vinyl paint sold in automotive stores. The results were amazing! The thing looked like new and the paint bonded perfectly. After 9 months in the sea of cortez it is still bright red.

So, if you really want to keep the red rub rail, I suggest you try this technique first. Otherwise, since you're not a "whaler snob", replace it with the factory BLACK rub rail. They're much better than any aftermarket rail out there.

Find a auto body shop paint supplier that handles SEM paint coatings. They have a vinyl color coat system that works quite well.

Always loved the red rubrails, but they were only red for a few years.
