I'm in the market for a 18' Outrage for use on San Francisco Bay. Have found very few available in Northern California. Currently considering a 1985 with original Evinrude 150. Has cover, EZ Loader Trailer , New Battery Etc. Hull needs new bottom paint and minor cosmetics. No electronics worth listing. Has Salt Water use and off season indoor storage. 2 owners.. Any idea of Original cost or current market value will be appreciated. Asking price is 13,500.0 (appears to be too high)

SFBay - look at my 18.6 Outrage for sale ad in Marketplace of this forum...that will give you an idea of comparison. I agree, the one you're looking at for $13500 - wow, that is a LOT of cash for an OLD motor! I sold my 150 Yammy (also an 85 and original on my hull for $1500, running good but salty). That mean they want $12000 for a hull and trailer. Hmm. Also, I don't like bottom paint on a Whaler hull, either. Not that this one has been...but occasionally boats out there have been repaired and painted over neatly with bottom paint. I like to see what's there, even if there are normal scratches. You may try buying a good hull and trailer only, and repowering new. That will be a challenge, and expensive too unless you're willing to travel. Sounds like Calif will be hard to find a good deal on one. Best, Mav

An 18'6" early eighties OR hull in good condition will sell for about $10,000. according to a local dealer. That engine is probably worth about $1200. or about two years use before you really get nervous about it. Rig is probably worth $11,000. if the hull is decent.

I may be selling my '83 18 Outrage in Santa Cruz (if I pick up another boat-I should know in a couple of weeks). You can see some pictures of it on page 16 of the Cetacea section of this website. The motor's are both '86's (120 & 15 hp). Everything else is pretty much new or restored. Contact me at firth@cruzio.com if you want more information. Dan
