Posted a similar topic 6 months or so ago... Just wondering if anything had changed. Are there any members from the Nashville, TN area? Only whaler besides mine I've seen around here is sitting on top of a Yacht at Rock Harbor Marina on the Cumberland R. ... (it's a montauk)

Landlocked, I have a Montauk in Decatur,AL on the Tennessee river about a 1 1/2 hours south of you. I use it here to fish in the tailrace of Wheeler Dam and for flyfishing when the willow flies hatch. Three or four times a year I take it to the Gulf of Mexico through Perdido Pass, Alabama and Horn Island Mississippi. |

Well, Little Rock (Hot Springs is where the boat lives)... isn't exaclty CLOSE... but...66 Sakonnet, 71 merc 115... waterlogged hull...etc... never leaves the lake (hamilton)... there are a couple of stripers, and smaller whalers on the lake... |

I live in Clarksville, TN. I bought a Montauk, just this Monday from a guy in Wisconsin. Whalers are very hard to find in this part of the country. I have been looking for a whaler for some time now, and after I sold my last boat, I was not going to buy anything but a whaler. I will be moving to Georgia in three weeks. |

Landlocked; I am in Birmingham and have a 1982 Striper 15. In 19 years of using my Whaler on the Tallapoosa River and Alabama River system of lakes I have seen exactly one other Whaler (a Montauk) on the water when I was. |

Great! Looks like we have a mix of new whaler owners and those who have recently found the site.I'm always on the lookout for other whalers on the water but other than the yacht tender I mentioned the only one I've seen was about a 30'er behind a big duelly heading down the interstate. Maby I"ll run into some of you. I boat mostly the cumberland river between Nashville and Clarkesville. Make a few trips up to Dale hollow, and a few home to cherokee lake where I grew up. My boat is about to be named Ann-Teak. If you see us say hi. Landlocked. |
