Friends,
I posted an inquiry below regarding a '74 Montauk, and since that time I have got a bead on an '87 with 90 Tohatsu, full canvas, trailer, etc for $7500. Good deal if in good shape? Any comments on the Tohatsu? And any advise in doing the "survey" (read keel kicking) would be most appreciated. And thanks to those who replied so quickly to my earlier message. I am just a whaler calf.
Regards,
David

Price sounds fair if everything checks out. I have heard good things about Tohatsu on this board (go back in the Performance section and look for older posts). Also look in the Repairs/Mods forum for how to check for waterlogged foam, etc. My opinion would be to bring cash and negotiate on the spot, contingent on a sea trial, compression check etc. Nice Montauks priced right sell quickly.
