Is anyone familiar with a model made in around 73/74 that is a center steer, but is not a "sourpuss" ?
I think it is referred to as the "sport center steering model". It does not have the rail of the "sourpuss" .. or at least mine doesn't.

I think it is a sourpous if the console goes entire beam. Might have been added from a sport or something. Always liked that model.

console is more like a single piece of mahogany.
there are marks where there may have been a downturned piece in the front and back, but it has no holes of ever having the normal side console mounted to the floor.

Might not have. Someone could have built it custom or added the console on a bare hull, etc. Maybe the wraparound railing was deleted. Who knows but I do not think it was a different model all together.

See photo on Cetacea Page 1. I think the seatback/rail detail was an option.

In the 70's the 13' was available as a side steer and a center steer. I had a '76 center steer, neighbors had a '71 center steer, both had wrap around rails and seat backs, but this was an extra cost option.
I really liked this set-up as a kid who ran the boat a lot by myself. The center steering wheel allowed me to balance the boat side to side much more easily.
