Has anyone had oil issues with this motor. When the motor is in the trailoring position it seems to leak quite a bit of oil from the filler flap. I have had it back to the dealer once and still I am wiping oil out of the builge and off the transom. Otherwise the motor is super clean. Original owner put on 20 hours in 5 years. This only happens when the oil reserve is full. Any thoughts?

I have had the same problem with my 1999 75 (detuned 90). Also curious as to why this is happening. This has been a recent occurance.

I have had seven of these engines and not an oil leak ever.... fully tilted up and reservoir full.. check that gasket on the screw-on oil cap is in place and in good condition and that the cap or neck of the oil tank is not cracked... overtighening could possibly cause gasket damage and or cracking... just a guess.. hope you find the cause of leak.. clark

I have a 1995 75 hp mercury that did the same thing. I got another o-ring gasket from the parts house and it stopped the oil tank leak. I still get leakage from the gas draining out of the carborator bowl when in the full up position. Put your finger in the leaked fluid and smell it to make sure it isn't gas. This bowl leakage looks like oil but it could be gas.
