Would this be covered by warranty? When I tilt my 1999 115 Merc out of the water -- all the way -- when I'm done boating, some oil drips into the motor well. It might be that the oil tank cap isn't "watertight." I close it as tight as possible. I think this is the general area where the oil is coming from. Second, underneath the engine cowling there is a sort of heatproof material. If this gets flaky is that covered by warranty. I have the extended warranty. Thanks.

Make sure you have both gaskets for you tank. You should have a Neopreen (wet suit material) and a plastic gasket.

Dan, I am having the same problem with my '95 90 Merc. It is currently at the dealer for the second time for the same problem. I believe it is a gasket issue as well. I have lost couple of quarts over the last two months when trailoring. What a mess! I will keep you posted. I should hear back from them today.
