Once and for all, does anyone know if the wood on a 1988 Montauk is teak or mahogany? Thanks for the help.

Hrmm, I am not sure about the 1988. But my 95 had teak. You can basically tell if it is teak or mahogany. Teak fade if you dont' oil it and have it out in the sun. Mahogany usually is varnished and darker in shade. Sorry if that didn't help you much in your question.

bboeri,

Once and for all, it's Teak, with the possible exception of the Whaler, Igloo cooler cleats for the cooler in front of the console, if you have one.

Yes...

Teak, teak, and then of course there's some teak. Cleats under cooler seat are mahagony.

However, the rails were generally wolmanized lumber.
