That is over $10 a pint. I get the OMC or valvetech for like $5-6.

No wonder such products are recommended by Yamaha and the other OB manufacturers!

Are Ring Free and Valvetech one in the same (at least in composition)?

Doesn't a pint of Ringfree treat something like 200 gallons of fuel?

I'm actually going to the dealer tomorrow to pick up another 8 gallons of bulk Yamalube and was going to get some Ringfree as well. I'll check the pricing.

I bought some ringfree for $62/gal at Twin Cities Marine in Two Rivers WI (Whaler dealer).

The dosage is...

Shock Treatment 2oz/gal

preventative 2oz/6 gal

I find that if I put in 1 oz/3 gal, my engine doesn't load up during prolonged idle.

I thought the bottle said 1 oz per 15 gallons and 2oz per 15 for shock.

I bought Ringfree today from the Yamaha dealer. They stocked 12 oz bottles that were ~ $9.00, and gallons that were $94. The way they were priced, there really wasn't any difference per oz. You would think that a bulk gallon would be much cheaper.

Also, the directions on the backs of both containers were the same:

Shock treatment: 2 oz per gallon
Constant treatment: 1 oz per 15 gallons

Even at $9.00 for 12 ozs, it only costs $5.00 to treat 100 gallons of fuel, or 5 cents per gallon for the preventative treatment. Actually pretty cheap insurance.

Anyone know where I can buy it cheaper on line?

as always, thanks

You should use the stuff! Anyway the same stuff in ringe free is also the same additive that Chevron uses in their gas. Techron I think it is called.

Anyone have suggestions when I can purchase it (hopefully) online at a discount?

as always, thanks

I have a 1991 130hp Yamaha. Is there any way that starting to use ring free this late in the game could do more harm than good?

The fact there's a 'shock treatment' suggests that it can be used any time. The label says that older motors may experiance plug fouling when shocked. I'd say, clean it, get that junk out of there, change plugs, and use the maintenance dosage thereafter.

good luck,

Last call for Yamaha Ring-Free....

My local dealer wants $94/gallon or $9.00 for a 12oz bottle.

I know it's got to be available cheaper than that (preferably on the net).

Any ideas where I can order a gallon or two, or pick up a case or two of the smaller bottles?

as always, thanks
