I picked up a 2002 brochure today. Haven't had a chance to digest the whole thing yet but I don't see any earth shaking changes.
New hull on both the 18 Dauntless and Ventura, new console on the 21 Outrage (ugly). a new 26'11" Conquest with 8'6" beam it looks nice.

Looks like I'll keep my Montauk.

The earth shaking changes happened long before now. Keep your Montauk!

As a dreamer I was hoping for changes in the less glitzy Sea Ray direction.

After taking a second look at the new 21 Outrage there are other changes that takes it from being an Outrage to more of a Dauntlass.

Sad to see. The new ones may still be great boats but it's a shame to see the old designs go away.

From what I can tell, BW is now firmly under the control of the Sea Ray design studios. The new 210 Outrage, and Conquests, proves it.

From their prospective, why not? Sea Ray knows how to sell boats, and Boston Whaler (especially in the early 90's) never did. Otherwise, Boston Whaler would own Sea Ray! Glitz and Gloss (blob shapes), along with Booze and Cruise (cocktail tables and vinyl seating booths), sells. It's now a fact of life in the small boat boating world. There is a Classic Revival going on, but it's only in the premium dollar ($250,000 and up) models. Small boats have always echoed the automotive styling trends. BW was one of the few that didn't, and look what happened to them.

Not just design changes...

I stopped by the Redmond BW dealer to see what they had used. couple of Revenge 22's (too big for me).

Had a cute 13 Sport with a 25 Merc 4 stroke. Asked about the MSRP and the sales guy said 11 - 14 THOUSAND, depending on options and motor!!!! (but they had a deal on a 2001 of 9.8K).

My 99 Dauntless 14 is lookin' better everyday!

As far as I'm concerned, with the changes to the 21 Outrage it shouldn't be called an Outrage.

Dick - How about a Sea Ray Laguna?
