I remember when we got our 22 revenge that there were pictures of large Whalers with WHALER written in big font on the side. If anyone knows were pictures like this can be viewed, I'd appreciate knowing too. I am trying to do something similiar on our 25 but need some pictures to give my creative energy some help. I looked around here a bit, but couldn' find anything...
Thanks,
Mike

I just sold an original set of these 14" high letters to Larry Sherman on this site.

Go back through the "Marketplace" posts for a description. They may still be available from Whaler's logo manufacturer, Magic Brush. Also see OEM section & Rendezvous section page 1. (18 Outrage used 10" high letters)

page 32 is the one, I tried looking through some pages but it was taking a bit too long.
thank you all for the help!
does anyone wanna guess what font that is?
i wanna use the same size (obviously 14") and font on our boat, but not whaler... ...we named the boat witness, so that is what I want instead... i'm playing with photoshop now to see how things might look...

I think the font is Clarendon Bold.

lhg-
I tried to find that font on Worg and Photodraw but it didn't seem like an option. Do you have any idea where it might be found?

If I remember correctly, the Whalers at Disney had 'Boston Whaler' in large print on the sides. Perhaps you could get a photo of one of their boats to go by.

Is Boston Whaler still the official boat of Walt Disney?

I have the "Whaler" on my 17' I bought them on E-Bay as new-old stock. I have never seen aftermarket. I know what you want and in ANY 1980's brochure they show it and you could take that to a decal shop and they will make them for you(in any name). They were all 4' long but ranged from 10,14 or18" tall. Believe it or not they were only a $28 option back in the days.

Sorry guys IMO they are lame. Quite understatement is a lot classier.

Slightly off-topic, but when I wanted to put a name on my 20' Revenge I used stencils from an outfit called The Mad Stencillist. (I forget the address, but a Web search should turn them up.) It came out very nice and was easy to do. They offer a larger selection of fonts than most vendors of vinyl boat graphics, and were very helpful during the design stage.

If you send them a picture they can probably help you match the font and size.

Witness - I hope you are able to burn disks, because a pagemaker file with that size logo should take up a whole lotta' space!

Actually, it would be a fairly small Pagemaker document... just text, after all. But Pagemanker won't format a page that big full scale, anyway. Have to scale it down and then back up when printing.

Mike-

http://mouseherder.com

Rick the Mouseherder in Annapolis - great interactive website - Rick has a custom vinyl lettering business and he was a joy to work with when I was casting about for a name and lettering design for my Outrage 22', Outre' (you can see the result in a couple of different spots in the Cetacea pages). I recommend him without reservation and highly suggest you at least tour his website. He can do anything.

Good luck-

kingfish
