I just wanted to share last weekends fishing adventure with you folks. We were fishing on the Spread Eagle chain of lakes in Northern Wisconsin (between Florence and Iron Mountain) The lake covers about 600-700 acres and of course the Montauk was the only boat brave enough to venture out. Brave enough? you ask. Well it never got warmer than 35 maybe 40 degrees with 20-30 mph winds and on Saturday it never got above freezeing. As we casted a few last times and contimplated heading in for the weekend it began to snow. Now we had seen a few flakes the previous few days but this became a SNOW STORM. As we looked around you could see all the folks in their warm lake homes coming to their windows. (half of them to see the snow, half of them to laugh at the 2 fools in the Whaler) There was no way we were heading in. The fall colors and our first snow fall were to beautiful to put into words. We fished until we could no longer see, and then finally headed home. I have told this story at the office only 20 times. I thought the forum might enjoy in too. By the way we were throwing spoons (Daredevils) for Northern. We caught 8 Pike and if you can believe it 5 good size Large Mouth Bass. I was shocked to see them hit a 1oz Daredevil. I guess they know the ice is coming. Happy winterizing!!!!!!

My father and I spent the weekend at the Blazer family cottage on Lake Hilbert just outside of Goodman - not too far from where you were. We too got caught in that snowstorm. At some times, you couldn't see the other side of the lake!

Had about 2 inches of snow in the Adirondacks, and on my Montauk. The fishing is still great--good sized smallmouth and Northern. The Montauk comes out on the 15th--first one in, last one out.
