I am trying to use Flo Torq prop adapter kit 835267A 1 "A Sleeve" kit for my 1985 Johnson 235, so I can use a Typhoon 15.25x15 prop.

I can not ket the prop to mont correctly. I took off my thrust washer, and put on the one in the kit, put the plactic sleev int he prop, slide it on the shaft, and the put in the metal insert that engauges the splines on the shaft and the plastic insert.

The problem is that the base of the prop is still about 1/4 of an inch from the motor casing, and the nut will not tighen completly as the splines stick out too far.

Has anyone used the Flo torq on an OMC engine?

First double check that you have the correct adapter kit. Even if it is the correct kit it does take a fair amount of toruqe to seat it into the prop. I have never seen one that didn't fit the engine it was designed for.

Thanks Dick. The Merc dealer I bought the kit from had never sold one before. They called dealer support to go ove the kit and ensure the installation instructions were correct. Merc was not much help to them.

I tried several times. No joy. We called Merc again, and they think we have the correct adapter. Its a shame, because I'd like to get an Offshore 4 blade prop, but will need to get one of these kits working first.

In the meantime, I finally found an OMC 15.5x15 prop.

Thanks, Larry

I no longer work for a Merc dealer but I'll stop by my ex employer tomorrow and see if I can get some info. Doesn't sound like they called the prop division, if they called the normal parts number I would expect the answer that you got.
That Offsore 4 blade is an awsome prop.

Dick,

your offer is over the top, you really don't have to, I've got the OMC prop in my truck, and will try it tommorow.

But if you are driving by...

Thanks, Larry

I checked the prop adapter kit chart, 835267A1 is the correct adapter for all Johnson/Evinrude V-6s 1984 thru 1990.

Thanks Dick. I must have done something wrong then, but for the life of me. I don't know what.
