This may be a little off topic for this forum but if so please forgive a proud Dad. The link below is to my trip report on a local fishing board. The only reason I believe it may be somewhat on topic is when we started fishing Sunday there must have been thirty boats working and when we gave up at 2pm there was only myself, an Outrage (the only other Whaler I saw that day) and two commercial fishing boats. The wind kicked up and chased the rest away. It was a bit rough but nothing a Whaler couldn’t handle.

I cannot imagine why it was rough. There is no way it could have had anything to do with the fact that Small Craft Advisories were posted...

What is the WS-Concrete Monster that you mentioned? We fished the mouth of the Choptank on Saturday and only found small rock. We did see a guy catching quite a few weak on umbrella rigs.

Ron, WS-Concrete Monster is one of the two massive concrete structures on the new span of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge…WS stands for West Shore. Great place to go it you ever get a chance. Lots of Blues were caught around us but we were strictly targeting Rock.

It is nice for a baby fish. No offense, but stripers this size are not legal where I am.

Here in NJ they have to be 28" in order to bring them legally home. We are allowed a slot fish at 24"

In any event, it must have made your son very happy.

Roger,

Ok, I know what you are talking about. I never had much luck with keeper rock around those supports. If you go to the supports that are surrounded by wood "bumpers" near the center of the new span you can cast rattle-traps under the bumpers and catch small rock all day long. It's fun when nothing else is biting. But, it's only good this time of year.
