I have a '87 17 Montauk with '88 Johnson 90Hp and a Tempo 24 gal. fuel tank. I have owned the boat for about 4 years and have had 3 instances of contaminated fuel (water). The first time I installed a new tank and fuel filter and had no additional problems for about a year. The second instance resulted in resealing the fuel assembly on top of the tank, coupled with covering the tank with a tarp. The third instance happened last weekend, and a quick investigation while drifting without power indicated bad fuel again. Has anyone else had problems with this particular tank design and are there additional steps thatI can take to ensure fuel quality. Not having nearly as much fun as I should be - Thanks.

The tank is not your problem, Duane. It is air, air full of water that later condenses in the tank. Add a water seperator/fuel filter to your system and no more problems.
