Well I was Sanibel, Fl this weekend and saw some handsome outrages. I saw a wonderful 25' outrage with a whaler drive and a 225 omc. This boat was nicely kept and had black canvas. One of the other outrages was an 18' with a fairly large t-top. It too was nicely kept I think it had a yamaha 130. I was wondering if these whalers belong to any of you? Which got me to thinking, It would be nice to have a small sticker logo of classic whaler to let others know your a member. Sometimes I see others out in thier whalers and try to crank up a whaler conversation and they could care less! They probably don't know what the fuss is all about. If we had a way to identify a fellow classic member it would help! What do you guys think?

I'd have no problem sticking a well thoughtout (right size, color and logo) on my console, for the forum.

A burgee would be another thought-

Let's do it. I would vote for a burgee. the last one I flew (and still have) was from the Shady Oaks Yacht Club in MD, back in the early 60s. Would be proud to fly one from Classic Whaler.

I like the sticker idea better. Could put it on the truck too!!

How about a secret handshake too :)
I also vote for the burgee idea.

Spruce Creek Navy has an emblem (usual size is 6" diameter and color of choice). Check out Cetacea page 28 for a peek! We also have T shirts, jackets and caps with the logo embrodered (sp?). The decals are adhesive back vinyl and I have them made in a local shop. Currently there are approx 100 members ranging from Key Largo, to Panama City to Michigan to New Jersey. And it's the perfect organization, no meetings, no rules, no dues, and you don't even have to have a boat! Some time back I suggested to Jim Hebert that we make up a similar decal for "Continuouswave Navy/Whaler Watch" and he apparently is not "warm" to the idea and in any case it's really up to him! I volunteer to have artwork done and supply decals (any color and size) at my cost should Jim approve! If my experience with Spruce Creek Navy decals is any indication, the things will go like hotcakes. A burgee is a good idea also but someone else will have to handle that! Nothing wrong with both! Yeah, I know, then you will want shirts, jackets, caps etc, etc, etc... Let's hear what Jim thinks... Happy Whalin.. Clark.. The Old Man and the Sea

I vote for both, and it would stir more interest in whalers by those who might see them. Maybe Jim would approve if there wasn't any additioanl work for him. Perhaps some of the proceeds could help maintain this site.

I like both ideas!

I'm a graphic designer and would be glad to submit some designs for review to whom ever... let me know. firstname.lastname@example.org

Another small idea from a small brain....how about everyone who donated to Jim's fund gets a decal(what are they $1)? That way it gives incentive?

BigShot, not a bad idea but I think we'd need to find out how much production will be before saying a buck can get ya one... price will depend on quantity ordered.

I'm down! That would be very cool!
I'll put a sticke on my truck and boat, and fly the burgee off the bow rail!
Tee shirts and Hats too please!

As a matter of general info., the Spruce Creek Navy 6" diameter emblems cost me 8 bucks each... if you go to a big shop and order several hundred then price should be less... I would suggest the SCN anchor emblem and substitute "Contunuouswave" for "Spruce Creek Navy", "Whaler Watch" for "Creek Watch" and "USA" for "FLA" ...

There is a sign company close by my office. He makes computer generated stick on signs we use from time to time. You just peal off the front, place the sign where you want it and push it on. I'll see what he wants to make some up, but I wont do anything without jimhs' OK. What about simply continuouswave.com in small letters? What say jimh?

Form time to time Ebay has Whaler windo decals in White. Got one and it looks really cool on the rear of my Ford wagon.I get folks who see it and ask about my Whaler from time to time. Don't see any other boat brands on car windows.

I would proudly display a continuouswave
emblem on my post classic Whaler if one

How about calling Magic Brush for the decals, since they are the only one's authorized by the factory to reproduce Whaler logo's...
posted 12-10-2001 05:52 PM ET (US)
Janis do you work for Magic Brush or are you just a decal detective? You seem very uptight about whaler logo use which is not what we are talking about here. We are talking about continuouswave.com decals. You are dredging up old posts to tell us about Whaler logo rights. We don't care that those people on E-Bay are gonna get caught but we do appreciate the $10 decals compared to what whaler will charge. Therfore buyer and imposters beware but enjoy!

Count me in. I put a white whaler logo on my truck. Always develops a conversation.
posted 12-11-2001 11:03 PM ET (US)
I'm in for the sticker; why not keep it simple and use the 'Classic Whaler' logo on the homepage - one that we know and recognize - and just put 'member' below?

Alright, what the H. E. double hocky stick is a "burgee". Wait a minute, I don't care, I'll take both! Is it like a "do-rag" for a whaler?

Oops, sorry, make that hockey. Also, we should rename this thread as it has drifted far from Sanibel.
