I just wanted to share with everyone a very special event that took place this Sunday. My son Brandon (16) who is a junior in high school, received his Eagle Scout award. The award was given to him by Senator Osar Harris from our area. When asked which merit badge he enjoied getting the most, he said his boating merit badge. He is a real whaler fan. Just wanted to share this.

Congratulations, Tim! You deserve to be proud and congratulations to Brandon, too.

Eagle Scout skipped a generation in our family - My Dad was an Eagle Scout, I was not (no organized scouting program where I grew up), but my son Chris gained his Eagle status when he was a high school senior. Dad had passed away by then, but he had held on to his Eagle achievement award sash all through his life, and having wound up with it, I presented it to Chris during his Eagle ceremony. We both felt Dad was there that night, and I know if he was there, he was nearly as proud as I was.

Congratulations from yet another Eagle Scout! The motto "Be Prepared" is more meaningful in boating than most anywhere else! A great accomplishment for son and dad! Clark... The Old Man and the Sea

Thanks Guys! I am very proud of both my boys.
Brandon (16) and Brent (10). It is also great to hear from other Eagle Scouts in the forum. Clark is right, "Be Prepared" and what goes along with it is "Safety" are the upmost when it comes to boating. Scouting has given alot of young men the expeirence needed to "Be Prepared".
Thanks Again Everyone!

Congratulations and you and he should both be proud. I am also an eagle scout and looking back on it, it was a great accomplishment. I can still remember getting my water skiing merit badge behind a 13 whaler with a 33(?) johnson. Great memories, thanks for stirring those up. Eric
