Am close to purchasing Dauntless 180..2001 with 135 hp Optimax...comfort package...canvas top..trailer for 32,900 including tax, etc. Ok price?

Will this pull a skier with 3-4 people in boat? Will I have to change props or go to 150 hp? Any idea on top speed? Have heard problems with Optimax 200......is 135 involved? Thanks....

George,
I think that is good price Compared to one I saw without a trailer and no Pkg's. $ 37,000. You still may do better in the dead of winter with the economic slow down plus the boat will be a left over in 2 months.
Oh, one thing check the Keel. I think they re designed the 2002 without a notch, which should help planning. That may also affect the price. I would wait it out if you can

George, I don't think you will have any problem pulling a skier with the Opti 135 and 3-4 on board. My neighbor has a 2000 Outrage 18 w/135 Optimax (it's a much heavier boat) and it performs very well. From everything I have heard, the small displacement Optimaxes (135, 150, 175) have been relatively trouble-free. I know the only problem my neighbor has had in 2 seasons of use was a blown fuse. The price seems pretty good to me too. Like blackdog said...at this time of year you might want to wait a bit and see if your deal gets any sweeter.

The opti 135 has been a trouble free motor. I do think they had recall on some of the 135 depending on the ser. number. Easy way to check is get the serial number and ask the parts or service department to run it and see if it needs updating.
