I had a nice conversation with Leslie at mills bout my leaning post. I would like to order a console cover and a leaning post cover for my 18' outrage. Only problem is she can't find record of them ever offering that leaning post on any 18's, "Them" being whaler.I looked through my old brochures and see several 18's with the leaning post option, even a montauk. Well does anyone know the skinny on this one?

I've swapped some nice emails with Leslie at Mills. And Mills has a nice website with a Whaler section... http://www.millscanvas.com/
If its not a complicated leaning post cover, buy the Sunbrella material from West Marine, BoatUS, or other and sew it up on your sewing machine. Will likely be quicker and cheaper than Mills... but not as convenient. I'm currently using an old 1982 Singer that cost $165 new.
I bought my own material and made my own instrument covers and bimini boot. Takes a bit of time, but nobody looks to see if you dropped a stitch or put your shockcord in with a 1/2" sleeve or 1" sleeve. You can install your own snaps where you want and customize anyway you like. Its not that difficult. Just don't run the needle thru your finger!

George, can't you take detailed measurements of your leaning post and have Mills make you one? Regards, Jay

I have a good working relationship with all the folks at Mills. They have done a lot of work for me both personally and for clients. It helps that I am 30 min away. If I can be of any assistance please drop me a note.
