Very nicely done. Looks (from this distance, anyways) factory.

Well, it does look well done and well finished, but.. . well. . . sort of like someone did a very nice job of grafting a pickup topper onto it. The lines and styles are incompatible in my eye.
The cabin on a Menemsha looks like it belongs there, on this boat it looks added.
Red sky at night. . .

I remember (barely) about these custom 21's. Chuck Filingame, owner of the now out-of-business Marine Boat House (I believe the first Whaler dealer on the West Coast), had these built for some of the 21's he sold. There are a few of them around. Not very pretty but very practical as the tall cabin allows you to stand and be fully protected by the elements and you are moved far enough aft to smooth out the ride. If I remember right, Chuck Filingame was featured in Mechanics Illustrated, or some other similar mag, back in the 60's. He was shown taking a 17 through it's paces on San Francisco Bay. He was a true Whaler man and was regarded as the best at putting a Whaler together. This was back when Whaler shipped all the parts in a bare hull and let the dealer do the assembly.

Yes, it was "Marin Boat House" we would head there on the bus after school and dream of Whaler ownership.
They had bearcats all over the place, very cool shop in the 60's....

I'm with you - if one wanted a hard cover on a 21, that in my opinion is a nice looking and effective solution.
Thanks Mav for putting it up-
