Actually asked about this on another thread, and realized it may be a topic worthy of discussion. I am looking at used boats, and often find interesting options hundreds of miles away. While a quick plane ride, and a local surveyer can address the specific boats, I would love to get some feedback on the most economical way to ship a boat. A roundtrip drive up and down the east coast is often not a reality. I have been quoted around a $1 a mile for used boat/trailer delivery. Has anyone had any experience with this? Care to share sources/experiences/advice?
I am thinking in the 20 foot range, but throw out any info, as it may be of use to others.
Thanks
Chris

Chris,
I had a 31 Whaler shipped up from Ft. Lauderdale last November. I got quotes from http://www.boattransport.com/. They post your request and the hauling companies send you quotes. Worked well for me found someone local who was taking a boat south and was looking for a return load so he made me a deal. Paid more than a dollar a mile but the boat was 12 ft. wide so it was an oversized load and there were permits and such. One thing is the deal has to be great for the shipping cost not to be an issue.

One dollar a loaded mile?! That is a great price from a pro trucking source.
