What size Igloo Marine cooler fits underneath the standard Whaler RPS?

The only Igloo cooler that will fit under the standard RPS without it being raised is the 25 quart model. It fits perfectly. I had one on my Outrage.

I made teak chocks modeled after the Whaler OEM ones including the bungee cord. I bought the molded hooks that rivet onto the sides of the Igloo cooler from King Marine here in Seattle. They were not expensive. I rarely used the bungee though because it fir so well under the RPS that it almost never popped out.

I believe you can still get these coolers from West Marine for about $25. They are the only ones that still have the old (pre 1990) style lids.

Your other alternative is to raise the seat 6", as I have done. Some, especially women, have thought this is too high, but it allows a tan pleat cushioned 72 qt cooler, sitting on Whaler's Montauk cooler cleats, to fit underneath. I think it's a nice detail. Without the cushion and the cleats, I think the 72 qt model will fit if the seat is raised just 4".

I pull the cooler out for additional seating in the stern when needed.

If you're going to raise the seat 6", raise the console 4" to go along with it. I guarantee you'll like it.

lhg,...are you referring to primarily outrages?.... i read where others do this re-engineering on 16s also..and what i see on many older montauks is a lot reinforcing and redoing of the deck mounting of the console..(stock ht.)...seems like you're going away from home making longer levers there..the added ht(s). are nice! ...but it seems you're paying a high price, structurally, for that added convenience.....also, i've not seen katamas in that shape ; their consoles weigh less,..attached in more places.. etc...$.02 worth.....lm
