posted 01-05-2002 11:53 AM ET (US)         With the boat shows in full swing, there is a lot of talk about new models. From what I hear, the new Montauk might be a step in a direction that makes sense for me. I hear the new model will still retain the general appearance of the current Montauk with what I would call the classic lines. I also hear the boat will be a little wider, 6" to 10". I would think that would make the boat more able to better carry the heavier 4 strokes. It is my understanding that the hull will still work well with a wide range of hp. Finally, I hear the price is to be below the 16' Dauntless. Kinda sounds good to me. Maybe they will unveil this model in Miami. Would love to be there. By the way, looked at the 16 & 18 Dauntless models. In my opinion, they are at the top of their respective classes. Kelly
