I was told that a Boston Whaler engineer once built Robalo boats as well. Are those boats equal in quality to a Whaler. When were they built?

I think (only think) I remember that Brunswick recently sold what was left of Robalo. They were down to selling only about 60 boats a year, and were probably a bad match with Whaler.

As an interesting aside, when Brunswick first bought BW, they didn't know what to do with it. So they formed an "Offshore Boat Group", and combined Whaler with Robalo and Wahoo (Whaler's chief imitator!). Well, that didn't work out, and BW was moved over to Sea Ray, and Wahoo was put out of business.

Brunswick sells Robalo Marine
Brunswick Corporation has sold the operating assets of Robalo Marine to Marine Products Corp. US Marine ceased production of Robalo units in January 2001. Robalo has been part of the US Marine family of boats since April 1991.

US Marine will continue to provide warranty support for all Robalo prod- ucts manufactured between April 1991 and January 2001 through our corporate headquarters in Arlington, WA under the terms of the applica- ble limited warranty and existing warranty policies and programs.
