I don't know were you live but you can see and original at Killinger Marine in Pansacola I believe it was in the water only twice. The marine also has a 1958 13 foot hanging on the wall never used they are both pretty neat. joe |

I thing the platform was an option, not required for purchase. |

Perhaps my memory is not perfect, but I have believed for 36 years that the plarform was optional and that I paid extra for it. Red sky at night. . . |

Pronunciation guides are given in the reference section for models with unusual names. See http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/16-17/models.html#sakonnet --jimh |

in addition to the Sakonnet, boston whaler offered the Nauset,...configured with pilot seat, console front seat, console for [$1910] the Eastport.. with pilot seat{no reversible back}console and rear seat for [$2080] what distinguishes the sakonnet is that it came with.. reversible pilot seat w/storage lockers and a forward platform [$2270] so you could add a bow platform to an Eastport but you would have to remove the front seat from the Nauset to add f/platform.. confused?? F/platform was available as option [$127] {prices and info from 1973 whaler catalog} |

My 1970 catalog also shows the bow platform, at a value of $135.00, as standard equipment in the Sakonnet. |

The "Standard Equipment and Accessory Parts List" I have from (purportedly) 1972 lists the Sakonnet as coming with the "bow platform, painted white" as standard equipment. List price for this part: $159.00 |

Yes but 73 catalog says $127, must have been the bad economy:) |

In 1973, the new tan hull was out, and they were getting ready to phase out the mahogany consoled models in favor of the Montauk. So maybe they dropped the price of the older stuff. |

my 73 catalog was 68 catalog in disguise. the folks at boston whaler, in rockland, sent me a photocopy of the catalog with two covers .. in the fine print on last page its copyrighted fisher-pierce 1968.. making the forward shelter @ $127 more logically priced.. |
