Ever since I found this site I have read almost all of the posts daily. Before this I was happy with my whaler and the way it was setup.I now find myself digging with short arms and deep pockets to fix things the right way. This site has made me aware of things on my boat that I did not know existed.{example rotted gas tank}Unfortunately these things cost time and money.I now look at my boat with a new found respect.Keep your troubles coming because your misfortune or question is my good fortune.I have learned a lot but it has ruined my life,as I cannot go a day without reading the posts on this site.Is this what they mean when they say a little knowledge is dangerous.

Kingfish - I thought the "Roach Motel" ad was something like "you check in, but you don't check out".

But your idea and analogy is correct here also. We sign on, but never sign off!

I was trying for a play on the Eagles number, "Hotel California", but I blew the lyrics! Should have been "...You can check out any time you want but you can never leave..."- senioritus moment...

I think you're right, it's the roach motel they can't check out of.

Grandmufty, I feel sorry for you and all you other working guys who feel "guilty" about sneaking looks at this wonderful site during working hours. Being retired makes it really nice to be able to visit and check the posts any time of day or night, which I do, as you can see from time of this post.

Just tell your bosses that the great information and usually delightful humor you get here keeps you relaxed, refreshed and ready to work !!!!

I enjoy all the posts but especially those of a personal nature which give insite into how the poster is thinking! It's amazing that most are on the same page and differ only slightly in opinions and choices and it's these differences that make it interesting. I learn someting new almost every day so keep it coming. Clark... Spruce Creek Navy

Attn.Jim B.;Please do not feel sorry for me.I do not deserve it.I retired at age 52 in the spring of 2000 after 33 years in an auto factory. The only problem I have found with early retirement is I feel like every day is Friday.Where should I go play today?

I can not tell you how much my research has been affected by this site. I always have people coming into my lab or office asking, why are you looking at another boat. I think I should change my field of study. If I wasn't so near the end... m

I enjoy logging in on this site during break time at work. It "takes me away".

It is always interesting, the response I get from coworkers who notice what I am reading. Being in Atlanta about four hours away from the ocean; everyone has heard of a Boston Whaler and associates the name with "good boat". But that is usually the extent of their knowledge.

I then pull up Tom Clark giving flying lessons in Cetacea Page 40. That makes for an immediate conversation starter.

I too must confess, I was reading this site 8mos before I purchased my whaler. While looking for a family boat, it was this site that convinced me I had to have a whaler. Though I have no regrets....this site has caused me to totally disassemble my boat to "see" what makes it work. I'm taking my 'Revenge' out on you guys and I appreciate all the help and information. Thanks for sharing your wisdom. Maybe I'll get this thing back together with your help.
Anyone else feel like this has become an AA session? :)

Hi, my name's Lor, and I'm a Forum Whaler-aholic. Yes, I admit to checking the Forum several times daily. But that may be changing, hence my post.

We've just been advised that "blue jeans casual Friday" is no longer, they're contemplating the elimination of flex time, and perhaps returning us to full business attire with [maybe] business casual on Friday. It appears that there have been some recent studies showing that comfortable office attire and flexible working hours lead to decreased productivity. Has anyone checked my departmental stats lately???? So, effective immediately, I'm curtailing my at-office checks of this site (even if I can justify them as being during breaks and on my lunch hour), just to be on the safe side. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone that's experienced such office policy changes (via e-mail OK).

Guess I'll catch up with you all evenings and weekends! -- Lor

This site is the only thing that has kept me sane this entire winter when theres ice on the bay. But its starting to go away. There is only four feet of ice left in the boat ramp!
