A guy at work told me he dug a 1970,16 ft boston whaler out of a storage shed his dad used for many years. It has a 65 hp merc that was drained of all fluids upon being stored. Last registration sticker says 1982. Assuming the motor can be reserected, what would a rig like this be worth?

Where is the boat located?? Frshwater or Saltwater?? Is it a Currituck(bench seats) or Nausett/Easport(center console)?? Jack.

This story reminds me of a time about 5 years ago when my wife and I spent a weekend in a lighthouse on Lake Michigan. We had dinner with the innkeeper and got onto the subject of Whalers; his eyes lit up and he asked me to come out to the "storage shed" with him. There, under a canvas tarp, on a bunk trailer, was his sparkling new 1969 Nauset with, he claimed, 10 hours on it. It looked unused, right down to the 80 HP Evinrude V4 on the back end. I told him I would give him whatever he asked for it, and his reply was the same as he told everyone woh asked him that question. "I'll add your name to the list." A really clean classic Whaler will fetch a bunch of money, especially with the exposure we have access to on the internet.

Whalernut, it is down here in Alabama. Does not have center console that I know of. I'm gonna check it out this afternoon. Always freshwater, unless I get hold of it.
