I have a 70 hp OMC on my newly acquired boat and would like to mount a pony engine if possible. I have a good 9.9 Yamaha that I would like to use although it's probably an overkill. It would add about 100 pounds. Will this work, and does anyone have info on a suitable mount and where it could be bought? Thanks for the help. Ron Brassord Lighthouse Pt Fl

Ron, I don't think the transom could handle the extra weight. On a 13 I use a trolling motor. Regards, Jay |

I would not do it either. That 100lbs on a side of a transom might adversely effect you at high speeds which that boat tends to chine walk. |

I too think the 100 pounds on the side of the transom would be a problem especially at high speed. However, I was thinking of the pony as a come home when the boat goes off shore a good distance. I boat out of Hillsboro Inlet florida and the fish whats left seem to be 10 or miles uot in the gulf stream. High speed would not be aa factor since we would be trolling mostly. Also, no way would we go out unless it was a flat calm day in the summer. I saw somewhere reference to a BW transom mount for a pony engine but dont know where to find one or the capacity. The transom has a tricky curve, and a mount would need to be compatible. Maybe it's an idea best forgotten. There are a zillion boats out there and a pony is seldom seen. Time to go boating Ron B |

theres a diagram for a kicker install from BW on this site, I read it last night. Go to "reference" I think, it was linked in a story about some guys adventures with his 15. |
