Just saw on the local news, 6 barges broke loose in flood currents and piled up against Cheatham dam on the Cumberland (Just north of Nashville at Ashland City) One is upside down and full of dry concrete. They said if it gets wet there will be no way to clean up the mess.

Not really whaler related but, shows the respect you should have for the power of water.

Landlocked,

I know what you mean by the "power of water". Here in east Tn with all the rain, the rivers/lakes are really gushing, with all the spillways on the dams wide open. Logs are floating everywhere. We've had alot of flooding this past week. I doubt I'll take the boat out this weekend, the water is too muddy for fishing anyway. Hope this stuff clears up in the next couple of days. Have a good weekend.

There was a nice Gruman Aluminum canoe hanging off the spillway of our dam Monday Morning. It looked like it was lodged pretty good but the water was too high to get to it. Went back the next day to attempt to retrieve and it was gone. Looked like niagra falls. There is usually no flow coming over the spillway. I've never seen it this high. Was really starting to worry about the dam.

OOO MY... I cant beleave that that tug is still running, if you look at the picture real close, the outside doors are open before they clip the bridge, and when they come out from the otherside, the water is rushing out of the main deck wheel house... Now I know that they keep some door closed, but how the heck did they keep her going???

Better them than me, and I think that we should all donate a few extra rolls of TP to these guys as that im sure that they needed it!!!
