Hi all, I have a friend of a friend that is going to be selling a 1992 27' BW Offshore. I am not very familiar with this model, don't think I have ever seen one in person. Anyway, it has twin 1996 225 hp carbed Mercs, sounds like aging electronics, boat is supposed to be in above average shape for its age. I have looked at Boat Trader and there are only 2 listed there right now. Does anyone know much about this boat, specifically, what kind of performance to expect, offshore handling, what is the cuddy like. I wasn't really in the market for a new boat, but this is supposed to be a good deal, the guy says make a reasonable offer. It is a 5 hr drive to look at the boat, and it is out of the water for the winter right now so I wouldn't be able to run it for a few weeks. I currently have a 21' Regulator center console that I love, but with the arrival of a new baby, I see something with a little shelter for the wife and little one in my near future. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The offshore is a wonderful watercraft-originally commissioned by the Coast Guard with twin 225 OMCS on a motor bracket. Most have a hard shell pilot house with ample walk-around room, a queen bed area directly under the rear deck. My stepson in the CG in S. Texas runs them with twin 300 Mercs-they do 40 knot U-turns chasing the drug runners. fb of Marathon FlKeys

We bought one in Nov. A '90 repowered with 2000 twin 250 yamahas with 33 hours. We paid 48G. We love the boat. The boat had old electronic, but an updatedable autopilot. We put some really sweet electronics on the boat so we no have about 60G in it use it all the time, love it.

Do you have any updates or photos available on the 27' Offshore?

I talked to the owner again, I don't think there is going to be any bargain here. He is talking 60-65K for the boat, a bit high for a boat with engines that old. I have not seen the boat in person, but I don't think I will pursue this one.

The 27 Offshore, came standard with a center pilot house configuration. It has a forward semi-v bunk and head (this is reached through a companion way to the port of the helm). She has a leaning post with back rest so you can use it as a seat the width of the interior, this " leaning post" has aft (outside of the helm) a prep station which contains dual sinks, live well, 30 gallon storage for fresh water with some storage under it.
The Offshore 27 was never offered with a bracket only an outboard motor well. She was produced until either '98 or '99 in the recreational line.
The Vigilant in the commercial division is very similar.
Excellent sea keeping abilities.
The last years produced recreationally the price was in the area of 100 thousand less power.
