I am in the process of trying to sell my grandfather's 1969 sixteen foot boston whaler. It is in very good condition and has a trailer and a 9 mariner outboard kicker. The 85 Merc engine has seized. The boat is located in Maryland.

If it is the Minot model, bucvalu.com rates is as $2200 to $2550 in average condition. Add 10-15% for good and 15-20% for excellent condition. That figure is also without engine(s). Don't go by NADA figures. Hope this helps. What part of MD are you in. I'm from Pasadena and will keep an eye out for anyone interested for you. You may also want to register on www.tidalfish.com and post to their classifieds board. Tons of people view that site daily.

You need to give us more information, JS.

Go to the Cetacea section of this site and find your Granddad's boat. Tell us the model and what sort of condition it is in.

I am too far away, but someone here surely needs that boat.

Good luck.

Just happened to be at my local BW dealer and he offered me $2800 for my 1969 16' whaler, '92 Evinrude 60 HP, and '79 trailer as trade-in value. This is in So. Cal. You can probably use this figure as a starting point and see what your market will bear. I was just dreaming(drooling) when I walked in there to look at the new 170 so I didn't accept his offer.
