After something like 2 years of looking I finally found and bought the 15 footer I was looking for. So far so good, 1981 with a good hull, some scrapes at the front from running it up on the trailer but they can be fixed easily, wood is in fair shape except it has been painted white, this will be stripped next winter. Motor is a 60 horse Johnson with a 4 horse Johnson kicker. All of this along with a decent trailer, plenty of manuals, tools, and assorted micellaneous equipment for 3,000. I think it was a fair deal considering most of the 13's I looked at were in this price range.
Nothing beats looking at a boat asking the guy to take it for a ride and he tells you to meet him in the morning to go fishing, then make your decision.
So hopefully I will have good luck with this, I had an old glastrom that never once broke down, as hard as that is to beat, I know if something does happen, at least I wont sink.

Best thing is I got it just in time for the Yellowtail, woo hoo.

I meant all of that for 3,800, still a decent deal in my book.

Congratulations on the new boat. The 15 hull is a great boat, you will love it. I have one of a similar vintage, 1978 that I bought new back in early 1979. Despite having acquired other boats through the years I never considered giving up my 15 Sport.

Phil,

I also have a 1981 15'er. Mine is a striper version with a 70hp johnson. Sounds like you got a pretty good deal. On boattrader.com they go average ine the 4,500 to 6,500 range depending on cond./rigging. You'll love the rig, one of the best riding 15' boats I've been on. Good luck.

I 've had 3 15 footers. The most "smiles" per hour of any whaler ever made.

I couldn't part with my 1977 Sport 15 either.

I kept it by giving it to my son.

Keeps him from grabbing my Montauk without me.
