Anyone have time on [a 1989 Temptation 2500]? I am considering buying one, pretty good shape, will use it for basic fishing and cruising in So. Cal. It has twin 200-HP Yamahas on a bracket. What hull is it based on and comments on quality of year and hull ride?
How about performance and economy? Anything to look out for on this model? Thanks for the help, this is a great forum and I am looking forward to contributing.

The TEMPTATION 2500 uses the same 25-foot hull as the Outrage-25. It is a great hull.

The bracket mounted engines may be on a WHALER DRIVE. This is another desirable option. See the REFERENCE article on Engine Brackets ( http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/engineBrackets.html ) for more information on the Whaler Drive option and the benefits of bracket mounted engines in general.

The only downside to the Temptation models is their somewhat unusual (for Whaler) interior.
The plush interior is probably not the optimum for fishing.

It seems that prices for Temptations are not as strong as for other models based on the same hull. Therefore, if the boat appeals to you and your intended usage, it is probably one of the best Whaler bargains around.

Boats from the late 1980's are often thought to be some of the best Whalers ever made, especially by people that own them.

kt- Be careful. Rec pricing several Outrages in your area before you offer on the Temptation. Take at least 25% out of the equivalent Outrage price. Check an NADA Blue book for the PERCENTAGE difference between the OR and Temptation. Is it 25% or more? Don't believe the absolute book value as Whalers sell for more-focus on percent difference in your area. .03 David
