squernt	posted 04-04-2002 01:56 AM ET (US)         I have often noticed on my 71 Katama when waxing the inside the areas in the hull where it has been beefed up for bow railing attach points and was wondering if any katamas had ever come with these rails. I'm aware that in this era of boat BW used the same hull for different models and options but just thought I'd ask if anyone has ever seen one that came that way from the factory or know if it could have been special ordered that way. Thanks
dscew	posted 04-04-2002 07:34 AM ET (US)          My 74 has a OEM bow rail, and it looks like it was factory installed, although I can't be sure, since I am 2nd owner.

whalerron	posted 04-04-2002 08:37 AM ET (US)             My 69 Minot (it's a Katama without the windshield) supposedly has factory bow rails on it. I say supposedly because the mounting screws are Phillips head but the rear rails are mounted with standard slotted screws.
Steve Leone	posted 04-04-2002 06:55 PM ET (US)             i am not sure what exactly you are asking. i previously owned an original Katama and yes it did have bow rails from the factory. the places where the bow rails mounted were no different than any other 1973 (blue interior) or later whaler that i know of. steve out.
