Hello all,
I have a question on the exhaust from a Johnson 60 hp (1981). On my old motor (85 Johnson) when I would rinse it, if i covered the back of the prop, water would circlate and dump out not only from the normal small outlets on the poershead, but from the back, from two round exhaust holes as well. On this 60 I have, it doesnt seem to soit out of the back exhaust holes, these are not round, they are two verticle slits in the back of the engine. Ciculation seems to be ok, I ran it all morning this morning without problems but I was expecting to be able to see soem water flow out from those exhaust slits based on past engines.
Do I have something to worry about here or no?
Opinions? (As said, the small pee holes from the bottom of power head are operating properly and the engine is not overheating.)
Thanks,
Phil

The vertical exhaust holes are like the ones that were on my old 1974 50 hp Evinrude.

Water only came out of them after the engine was running at a higher rpm, as I recall.

Thanks, you guys make me feel better.
Incidentally I am taking it in to have serviced and water pump replaced ( I know I should do it myself but I somehow always end up with a few nuts and bolts leftover and I am trying to avoid that.)
I am prepared to get spanked going to a new mechanic and all but for some reason I try to still believe there are fair businessmen/women in the world.

Happy whalering.
Phil

Philmoses, you need to update your profile, @home doesn't exist anymore.
